Utah has regulations surrounding trucks that are very permissive. LCVs are allowed, up to 129,000 lbs, and other vehicles can obtain overweight permits to these weights as well, assuming compliance with the federal bridge formula. Watch out for trailers over 48’ on non – designated routes, but LCV authority can be applied for, and then 57’ trailers are possible to operate in the state. There are 2 separate areas where LCVs can operate. There are designated National Network routes for LCVs with a cargo – carrying length over 81’, but under 81’ can operate anywhere in the state.
