The newly released MyBigTruck tool is capable of generating very detailed compliance information uniquely for your truck, in a way that is unique in the industry.
The MyBigTruck tool works by taking information that is stored in the Big Truck Guide database and combines it with the axle spacings of your truck. The lowest weights allowed in the various federal, state and provincial laws are given as the maximum allowable weight for your truck.
Gross Weight
- Finds the theoretical maximum gross weight for the jurisdiction and truck combination
- Calculates the maximum US or other bridge weight allowed for that truck combination based on the axle spacing provided, for the jurisdiction
- Takes the lowest of these two numbers as the maximum weight allowed
Axle Weights
- Finds the maximum axle weight for the particular axle combination, truck combination, and axle spacing
- Considers bridge restrictions in these figures
- Presents the lowest allowable weight as the maximum axle weight
Dimension compliance
The most common type of dimension compliance issues are with trailer length and kingpin to tandems maximums. To ensure that all those maximum weight calculations weren’t in vain, the MyBigTruck report then does a compliance analysis of each jurisdiction. If your combination is not in compliance for that particular jurisdiction, then it is crossed out in red.
